Panic ramble....Feel free to ignore if you're over the conversation about the new clip already

I know, there are about 30 posts I could comment on about this right now, but I'm too flaily and felt it would be better to just do my own instead of clutter other people's with all my nonsense.

PANIC! RELEASED A CLIP OF THEIR NEW SONG!!!! I still wish I could have come up with am excuse for work and someone to go with me to NYC to see them on Feb 1st, but I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope for a fucking leak. Whatever. The rest of "The Ballad of Mona Lisa" (Which is not a ballad, keep the pretentiousness alive, Panic!) comes out Feb. 1st and I COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED. I AM FLAILING WITH GLEE!!!

Allow me to give a 30second clip entirely too much thought and far too many exclaimation marks

1. The lyrics!! They're not bad...which is kind of what everyone seemed to be worried about when Ryan and Jon moved on (because no one remembered "Holy Spaces" and "Folkin Around" for a few months, apparently). This isn't the whole song so I'm not sure how it's going to be in context, but so far, I'm liking them. Plus, they're catchy but seem to allude to some depth.

2. Brendon's voice!!! I've MISSED BRENDON'S FUCKING VOICE, okay? Granted, I'll admit that I am beyond biased and like his voice just about anytime I hear it, but his voice seems to mesh better with the new sound.

3. THE MOTHERFUCKING DRUMS!!!! Okay, it's not a secret that I pay a lot of attention to the percussion in anything I listen to (I have no idea why since I can't actually play drums and I can't dance because I have approx. -5 rhythm). Normally, the drumming is a little less obvious than everything else going on. IDK if they're so noticeable because it's Spencer's primary instrument and the whole thing is Brendon and Spencer. It seems like Spencer did a lot more with them than on Pretty. Odd. The drumline just feels more complex and that's possibly my favorite part.

4. I like the new logo. It's snazzy. I don't, however, appreciate that their website has become nothing but the logo while they jazz it up or whatever. They're taking cues from MCR. They need to STOP. I swear, I'm convinced these bands have a bet on who can be keep people in suspense the longest. It's really a close call at this point.

Just....it's a clip, okay. I need to chill the fuck out and wait for the rest of the song and then the rest of the album before I make any judgments, but I always liked Fever more than Pretty. Odd. and this definitely does sound more like where Panic! would have gone after Fever if they hadn't decided to try to be The Beatles or whatever. Don't get me wrong, I liked Pretty. Odd. and I fully intend to force my bridal party to dance down the aisle to "When the Day Met the Night" if I ever get married, but Fever is where I fell in love with Panic! I sort of missed the tempo contradicting the lyrics. Also, it's kind of a rock vibe than pop...which I was a little worried about after "New Perspective" was so poppy. Basically, it feels like they're doing what Rooney did with Eureka and, if this clip is anything to go by, it's going to work really well.

Okay. I'm done. I need to go crash because, while I'm hoping for a snow day, we probably won't get one and I need to be up for work in less than five hours.
