I probably would've jumped on the bandwagon as well, except that I was in Japan when it hit.... and thus I managed to avoid it. I forced myself to read every HP book, even though I was tired of it after book 3. (not that I didn't LIKE HP, I just think the final 4 books could be 200 pages shorter and still tell a perfectly fantastic story)

I did see the movie though (on a plane ride to the US, strangely enough) so I became familiar with the general storyline and sought out fanfic, because I am a total sucker for fandoms. I thought fic writers just couldn't capture Bella til I read the first two chapters of book 1 (evil mother influence) and realized No, she just is that absolutely idiotic.

My mother liking all four books... I just put it down to her advancing age. :-) hee.

The fact that Jacob is better in fanfic than in the books is probably more amusing to me than it should be. Though that simply reinforces my idea to not read them.
