Hypothetical AU Meme. Because it's shiny. And I am bored
The Hypothetical AU Meme: Take any one of the fandoms you know I write AND give me a type of AU (space opera AU, pirate AU, superhero AU, etc) or another time period (Ancient Rome, Regency England, etc). I will then explain the gist of the story I would write for that AU.
I know I only really write bandom now, or at least that's all I've posted recently. So we'll go with anything you know I like. Which opens it up to bandom, White Collar, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Star Trek XI RPF, Star Trek, and anything else you can think of that I like since I can never think of everything when I'm trying to. Be as specific or vague (ie list pairings if you want) as you want to. Just entertain me! ;)

I could write you SO MANY COMMENTS. SO MANY. Okay. Let's see.
Brendon/Gerard 1899 turn of the century murder mystery
Mikey's presumed dead and Gerard is damned well going to find out who did it. He basically contacts every person Mikey's known in the past five years. It's an extensive list. Brendon is his butler/cook (even though he's almost as bad at cooking as Gerard) and is more like a life coach and secretary. They set out to get the most likely suspects into one place under the appearance of a memorial dinner. It's classy; it's a big deal; it's a three day, weekend event. Brendon thinks it's ridiculous and some weird extended coping mechanism.
When everyone gets together, a series of unfortunate events start happening. The electricity starts malfuntioning. Small fires start up in different guest suites at roughly the same time. Brendon is attacked from behind by a grandfather clock, what the fuck.
They have to figure out what's going on in the house, why guests keep getting chloroformed, and who is making all the weird sounds in the attic while trying to figure out who maybe killed Mikey and where they hid the body and why there are rumors of a new woman with the last name "Way" throwing around money like she's not lower class.
Brendon/Frank/Bob superhero au
Brendon is an empath, which as far as superpowers goes, he figures is kind of lame. The problem is, he can also manipulate emotions; he just has NO idea how he does that. Bob can blow things up with his mind, it's shiny but becomes and issue when he's angry and starts blowing holes in doors when he looks at them. Frank has the power of invisibility. He doesn't think it's very useful, except for running cons.
The three strike up an alliance when their unconnected friends go missing. It turns into a journey where Brendon plays people to distract them while Frank walks out all the information and resources they need. Bob makes their get-aways so much easier because they don't have to rely on things like doors. All their research leads them to an island that everyone has assumed was abandoned. It's a training facility for those with powers to help in the same ol' solving crimes and fighting battles that the always makes the government want people. Everyone is there "voluntarily" but their families are under threat.
While Brendon, Frank, and Bob are trying to figure out how to turn the tables, they start fighting amongst themselves. Brendon can feel all the anger and frustration coming off the island, Bob is having a harder time controlling his anger because Brendon projects, Frank keeps blinking out of existence because he just wants to get his bffs Gerard and Mikey out and he can totally do that if they just let him sneak around for a while. In the end, they go in with the tactics they've been refining, destroy records, make some threats, save the day and stop hating each other.

I love both of these.
Like the first could be sooo atmospheric and broody. WITH ANGST AND DARKNESS and just plan horrory mystery.
The second I see in my head as very colorful with action, Action, ACTION!

YAYS! I'm glad you liked them!!!! I wasn't sure how the superhero one was going to turn out. I'm WAY out of my element with superpowers.
The Gerard/Brendon one though... I'm seriously thinking scrapping the Spencer psychological thriller for HBB and doing that. Because it CAN be all angsty and dark and there will be creepy houses and mistaken identities and misunderstanding and stories of WOAH. :)

Brendon/Gabe/Mikey Noir
A ratpack era, mob au wherein Brendon was supposed to go into the family business of working of finance but hates the sound of cash registers. He decides to fuck off and become a detective just for spite. This leads him to the first detective he can think of, Mikey. Mikey isn't much of a detective so much as he is a very lucky person who people like to talk at. Gabe is a general, every day annoyance who tends to find his way into all manner of unsavory situations. Gabe ends up on the wrong end of a hit because he, unlike Mikey, is always in the wrong place at the wrong time.
He's been working on a new type of bar that would, with Gabe's money and reputation, probably take over the scene; people are already talking about it and he hasn't even dropped any cash yet except for on this one giant, ornate cobra statue to decorate the entry way. Gabe saunters in, as he is wont to do, and talks Mikey into finding out who's after him. Brendon, who Mikey thinks is adorable but in the wrong line of business, manages to charm his way into anywhere and with anyone until he's neck deep as a "double agent." Mikey is livid and Gabe is contrite. They have to find a way to get him out before al hell breaks loose since Gabe's friend, Pete, accidentally ruined Brendon's cover. They also have to keep Gabe from taking a bullet in the process.
Pete redeems himself by breaking the statue and realizing it's full of money and they arrange to trade the cobra for Brendon. It doesn't go as easy as planned.
Brendon/anyone Fairytale
Brendon/Spencer. Spencer accidentally sort of kidnaps a prince during a jousting match. He's just trying to sneak in to swipe the prizes while the king and his guards are occupied. Snatching the youngest son because Spencer can't afford to be sold out wasn't part of the plan. He needs the money that melting down the gold would get him, though, or he'll never be able to talk that fucking wizard into waking Ryan up.
Brendon's not too terribly upset; he was bored being the prince anyway. Whatever Spencer says about kidnapping him is a complete and utter falsehood. Brendon's had knight training and he could have kicked Spencer's ass. Spencer has no idea what to do with Brendon except to take him along when Brendon refuses to be un-kidnapped at the edge of the city.
Suddenly, Brendon's stuck learning about pixies and witches and werewolves that he hadn't known lived in their kingdom since his father's decree against all supernatural creatures and Spencer's stuck trying to collect things to make a stupid potion for a stupid wizard with a grudge. It's a hard task, but kind of fun when he has Brendon helping him get out of (and frequently into) the troubles only a prince can really dredge up.

and ok it's hard to decide if this one or the Mystery au summary is my favorite. Because on one hand the Mystery Au would be dark and painful...but this one would be gritty and stark-cutting. So I dont know man.
Seriously the Ratpack era setting would work spiffily and Mikey as a 'detective'. Brendon not wanting to deal with money and decides 'hey, detective..yeah I'll be that'

I'm pretty sure the Mystery AU is my favorite, but the ratpack era one is GABE and Brendon and MIKEY. There would be fedoras and trenchcoats involved! And enough random plot twists to keep even me guessing until I finished!
Brendon is totally random. He's just like "mehs. what's the MOST DIFFERENT... hmmm.. yeah okay. This works!"

Spencer/Gabe/Gerard
Being a pirate isn't all fun and games. You have to worry about your shipmates double-crossing you, which is how Spencer and Brendon end up down half their crew and picking up Dallon and Ian to pick up the slack. You have to worry about running from the authorities, which is why the Cobra crew has abandoned their ship in a fiery blaze of glory to bunk with The Academy. You have to worry about making enough money to keep food in your bellies and a ship running, which is why Gerard and Co. keep running rum even though the Spanish Main is getting increasingly dangerous.
The easy answer to all their problems is to find the largest treasure rumored to ever have been hidden. Unfortunately, Pete has gone straight and is shacked up with a magistrate, so he's not giving anyone any answers about where he hid everything. The Panic has the star map from when Pete left it on their ship the week he was making his goodbyes; Romance has the sea map that Mikey swiped when he had a break-up fling with Pete; Cobra managed to steal Pete's land map minutes before Patrick had his guard on them. The three crews are in competition and the Captains Smith, Saporta, and G. Way aren't exactly known for liking one another but this is the type of treasure they could split and still pull things off.
Only you can't take three known pirate ships across hostile waters so they all load onto Panic's (it has the smallest crew even though they have one of the largest ships. The mind, it boggles.) Somewhere between Torunga and this island Pete has mapped out, the crews get cozy, the captains share secrets and their not so sure why there was all this hate to begin with. Then they discuss their plans for AFTER they have the treasure days before reaching the island and it becomes every crew for itself. Only the island is inhabited, booby-trapped, and too close to a police presence for any of their liking.

Peter/Neal/Elizabeth
New York sits on one of the divides between the worlds. Peter Burke lives in the "real world" where humans are humans and don't have special powers of manipulation or illusion. Except maybe his wife, but she might just be her own brand of magic. He's spent his adult life working to be in the most prestigious division of the FBI so he can work to keep the sides divided and keep the real world safe. The goal is to round up those who bounce between the two to cause issues and lock them up in the middle world, Limbo, as it were. Both sides work to keep the sides patrolled, but some people still manage to break through and evade capture.
Neal Caffrey is a shape shifter who has the ability to look like anyone he's ever seen in art, film, or on the street. He's been jumping worlds for years but a curse placed on him by the ex-love of his life, Kate, has him never fitting into either one. When he's in the Human World, his powers work, but when he's in the Complex World, he's as human as anyone in the Real World.
He's running through cons in the Real World when Peter Burke nabs him. Burke, knowing a good thing when he has it, strikes up a deal with Caffrey and drops a nullifying bracelet on him for the duration of his term. Neal's stuck working to track down people who consider him "one of their own" and befriending the Burkes. El seems to know too much about the Complex World and sees through everything Neal tries to throw at her.
Mozzie, an intellectual sponge, is Neal's only ally from the Complex World. They're trying to track down Kate with her black magic without getting thrown back into limbo when Neal realizes he's maybe not doing too badly in this Real World, even though it's confusing. He's almost too busy with the Burkes to notice when some new player who may or may not be the cross of Human and Complex beings comes along and starts working to close the world gap for good. The FBI has no leads but Mozzie and Neal... they might just have something up their sleeves.

Harry's just a normal kid, with normal kids issues. You know, like being raised by people who keep trying to sell him to the government for science. It's not his fault he's evolved into a freak. When he finally can't take anymore, he takes his chameleon abilities and runs.
He's doing pretty good. It's not like he likes living on the streets and stealing and things, but you have to do what you have to do and no one knows it's him anyway since he can seamlessly blend into anywhere. Plus, he always pays it forward by helping stop minor crimes happening around the city. No one knows he's doing it because no one knows he exists, but that's fine. He doesn't want the notoriety.
Then he runs into someone who knows he's there because he "think to loudly" and it's all downhill from there. Hermione figures out where he is and what he's doing and keeps showing up to "help," which she admittedly does pretty well but they almost get arrested because it's harder to keep two people from getting caught than one who basically disappears into the background.
Only then they meet what turns out to be a whole community of the evolved and are taken in by the Weasleys after they manage to help their youngest son when his confusion powers fail him in the middle of a crowded street of the un-evolved. Harry's shocked when Ron tells him there are a lot like them and most have mind powers... apparently, Harry's the first with anything physical and there has been a lot of talk about him. Which just figures.
There's a movement, though, geared at working those with powers into the open and putting them above the normal people who haven't caught up to them yet. They want Harry on their side but people who Harry's parents knew long ago are coming out to stop the take over while the other side is staging strategic attacks. Things are a hot mess and somehow Harry and the only people he cares about in the world are on the run and doing things they're really not prepared for.
IDEK, dude. This is weird....I'm sorry if it sucks. I had no idea how to turn HP into superheroes lol.

Trek XI RPF - Summer Camp AU

Chris/Zach, Karl/Anton, Zach/Matt Bomer
Chris' parents don't want him bumming around the house and harassing his sister all summer, though, so they ship him off the the fucking wilderness for almost a month.
It's an acting camp with actual dorms at some college upstate. He can only whine about it so much once he finds himself in the middle of a prank war with Zoe from the girls dorms and Anton's decided to follow Chris around like a puppy and even though the kid is a baby, he's still pretty amusing.
Then there are the counselors... Karl's funny and pretends to be all bad ass because he has an accent but Chris has seen him trying to keep Anton from getting homesick more than once. Then there's Zach... he's pretty much the king of all the classes, gets all the lead roles and has for years. He always plays opposite his boyfriend, Matt, and they win everything at the end of camp.
Until this year, when Chris somehow sneaks his way into the lead role in the end of camp production opposite Matt as his best friend. Then, in a bizarre twist, Matt gets sent home with death plague (read: mono) and Zach takes his role. Zach and Chris have serious chemistry on stage, but they're weirdly antagonistic off. Mostly, Chris thinks Zach's uptight, pretentious, and flaunts his intelligence while Zach's convinces that Chris is an arrogant jock without two thoughts in his head.
Will their off-stage arguments bring down the wrath of female lead Zoe and camp director JJ or can they pull it together, get over their issues and actually pull of a production? Only time will tell....
