When I wrote that prompt, I tried to imagine what a fic based on this concept would look like and nowhere in my imagination was anything like this -- anything made of this much sheer awesome! *flails like a happy flailing thing*
I loved the characterization and the lovely witty banter between Chris and Zach. It built up the UST, while also showing how comfortable they are with each other. I really got the sense that they fit together like puzzle pieces, which is why Chris' omission -- even if it wasn't really meant to be a secret -- is such a big deal to Chris who frets over what it'll mean to their dynamic.
All this makes certain scenes that much more powerful. For instance, when Zach is trying to process the fact that Chris just happens to be his favorite author and instead of being upset that a secret was kept from him, is most upset that Chris was keeping something that he loved from Zach. When Zach told Chris, "But they’re important to you", I grinned from ear to ear. I had the same reaction when Chris playfully accused Zach of sleeping with Jack Christian and Zack replied, "I am. He’s damn hot, kind of smart, almost funny, sort of my best friend." I swear, this will never not make me smile! :3
Plus, there were so many things in this fic that contributed to making it so special -- like the way you explored how Chris was a creature of habit and had trouble just coming out and telling Zach even when he wanted to. And, for the record, all the little details about the books made me want to read a Jack Christian novel!
Anyway, this was a incredible fic! I cannot come up with words to adequately tell you how much I loved it. Thank you sooooooooo much for writing it! ♥♥♥
